Explanation of Terms used
ACPF - Archives Canada Personnel File. If you wish to obtain copies of the Soldiers Personnel File, this is the reference number used to obtain it. Their site can be accessed at www.archives.ca
RegNu - The soldier's Regimental Number. This can be used to obtain further information on this person from the Canadian Archives.
Hometown - This is where the soldier enlisted. All cities and town are in Ontario, unless otherwise shown.
Last Unit and Rank - This is the battalion that the soldier was transferred to after the 94th was broken up as a fighting unit. The 94th still existed on paper until July 1918 and a small number of men remained on strength until the end of the war. The rank shown is the highest rank the man held.
No Papers - This shows that the man's enlistment papers are not yet on the Internet and as a result, no other information is available.
Unknown - Information on the man's last unit and his rank is not yet available on the Internet.
Died - The soldier was Killed in Action, Died of Wounds, or Died as a result of an illness contracted while in the army.
Field Punishment Number 2 - A man was shackled for 2 hours a days, and this was done 3 days out of 4 and for no longer than 21 days. He was require to march with his unit while under punishment.
Canadian Casualty Assembly Centre - The unit where men were assessed to determine if they were fit for duty. The men were posted here and examined by doctors and other staff and if they passed they were returned to their units. If it was determined that they were fit, they were rated as to where they could serve or if they should be returned to Canada for discharge. The men were not only war casualties, but also men who were sick or not able to perform their duties satisfactorily.

Notes on Sources
Casualty Lists - These lists are very difficult to obtain today and the ones I have used are from the Fort William Times Journal's "Canada's Roll of Honour" and “Official list of Casualties to members of the Canadian Expeditionary Force”. They are not complete, but they are the best available today.
Prisoners of War - The majority of these records have been destroyed and while I did find some names on the lists available, there was not enough information to match them up with 94th men.
Courts Marshall - the names of those men who were Court martialed and the reasons for them are available, but the results are not, except by examining each individuals Personal Record.
Awards, Medals and Decorations - Information comes from the following sources.
1. Canadian Foreign Awards, Awards to Nursing Service, Mentioned in Dispatches, World War 1 1914 - 1919. By Jim Wallace.
2. The Distinguished Conduct Medal Awarded to Members of the Canadian Expeditionary Force 1914 - 1920. By David K. Riddle and Donald G. Mitchell
3.The Military Medal Awarded to Members of the Canadian Expeditionary Force 1914 - 1920. By David K. Riddle and Donald G. Mitchell. There are no citations for the Military Medal because of the difficulties in finding them. They can be found in the individual unit records.
Home Towns - All hometowns are in Ontario unless otherwise indicated.
